On April 8th, ANF launched Far.Co, a brand positioned as a strategic partner in the co-creation and transformation of real population needs into innovative pharmacy solutions. Based on technical-scientific knowledge and evidence, these solutions are developed in collaboration with key stakeholders in the healthcare sector, creating a positive impact on people’s health.
«Our purpose is very clear: to add value to society and contribute to a healthier population, with better quality of life and greater capacity to make informed decisions. Far.Co emerges in this context, recognizing that pharmacy interventions can be optimized through the use of retrospectively collected data, allowing for greater personalization of interventions», said the president of ANF during the launch event, held at the Association’s headquarters.
In the panel “Solutions that transform and add value”, dedicated to the role of pharmacies in the healthcare ecosystem and the network’s collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry, Ema Paulino highlighted that more than half a million people visit pharmacies daily. «More than an opportunity for intervention», this is «a responsibility» that teams have embraced to promote the effectiveness and safety of therapies.
Alongside her, AstraZeneca’s medical director, Hugo Martinho, emphasized the importance of pharmacy interventions, particularly in chronic diseases. «In Portugal, there is a disease ecosystem, and this represents a major opportunity for the pharmacy network, given its reach, public trust, and the quality of its human resources. When it comes to chronic diseases, pharmacies can help identify at-risk individuals and bring patients into the system», he said.
Carlos Fona, sales director at Fresenius Kabi, also stressed the close relationship between pharmacies and people as a distinguishing factor for the future. «Healthcare will move from hospitals into our homes, and pharmacies will be fundamental. If the system aims to remain sustainable, it is essential to look at pharmacies and adopt a more relational approach, freeing pharmacists for screenings, services, and monitoring, because only then can we ensure the effective use of resources», noted Carlos Fona.
The panel, moderated by Paulo Silva from Hollyfar, also included the participation of Haleon’s general manager, Nelson Patrício, who highlighted the importance of health literacy and self-care, assigning community pharmacies a «central role» in this area. «The quality of information and education that pharmacies provide to patients contributes to greater efficiency in the healthcare system and, at the same time, helps reduce pressure on the National Health Service and save public resources», he said, adding that there is «developing potential» within the network and emphasizing transparency as the main outcome of established partnerships.
With the purpose “For Health, we add value to pharmacies,” Far.Co, launched as part of ANF’s brand repositioning, embodies the Association’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and value creation across the entire healthcare ecosystem, consolidating the work carried out over recent years.
