The ANF auditorium in Lisbon hosted today, March 12, the first edition of the Pharma Science Global Conference (PSGC), organized by the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Studies (LEF).
The event gathered professionals, specialists, and leading entities from the pharmaceutical industry, providing a constructive space for dialogue and the sharing of scientific, regulatory, and strategic opportunities and challenges in the sector.
In the opening session, Fausto Almeida, from the ANF Board, emphasized that «therapeutic innovation is a collaborative and interdependent ecosystem».
«Community pharmacies are aligned with research that originates in industry and innovation. We are the final step before the safe and effective use of medicines», highlighted the ANF vice-president.
The conference program included topics such as updates on GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines; sustainability and environmental responsibility; Analytical Lifecycle Management; trends and new approaches in plant-based medicines, with a special focus on medical cannabis; and emerging topics such as Extractables and Leachables.
Fátima Godinho Carvalho, executive director of LEF, took the opportunity to publicly present the new branding of the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Studies, as part of ANF’s brand architecture. The institution now positions itself with the purpose of «Pela Saúde, ligar o conhecimento ao setor farmacêutico» («For Health, we connect knowledge to the pharmaceutical sector»).
This positioning will also materialize in the expansion of the company’s facilities, reinforcing LEF’s production capacity in response to growing demand for specialized solutions in the pharmaceutical industry. The strengthening of technical skills, specialized teams, and advanced technologies will support its values of competence, credibility, ambition, and innovation.
PSGC thus reinforced LEF’s commitment to actively contributing to the scientific, technical, and strategic development of the pharmaceutical sector, bringing together perspectives and strengthening partnerships within a constantly evolving ecosystem.
